Background:
Menlo Park based private investment firm managing over $6bn is seeking an exceptional communicator with native or native-like proficiency in oral and written Japanese to join its Investment Management Team. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the needs of our Japanese investment partners and will work to develop, retain, and educate our investor base on an ongoing basis.
The investment firm's success is built on its ethics, intellect, and professionalism. The successful candidate will be positioned for future promotions as they develop its Asian business partnerships.
Role and Responsibilities:
The candidate will work closely with the Manager of the Investment Management Group to develop relationships and marketing communication with Japanese investment and business partners.
Specific responsibilities include (in Japanese and English):
Develop understanding of the needs of Japanese investment partners in conjunction with Analysis/Reporting and Client Administration sectors of firm
Proactively engage investors and business partners to increase allocations to our breadth of product
Educate investors regarding content, unique investment strategies, and approaches to our platform
Enhance communication with investors as to any changes within the firm and investment platform / offerings
Structure clear and effective reporting and marketing materials
Partner with investment banking and consulting communities to further develop relationships in the region
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese
Ability to accurately translate complex materials, including financial marketing materials, reporting documents and legal contracts
Strong presentational skills and comfort with external-facing responsibilities
1-2 years experience in financial services or alternative investments preferred, though exceptional candidates from other industries will be considered
Proven success working independently and within a goal-oriented team environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
Fluency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point)
Compensation:
Highly competitive compensation and promotion opportunities are in play for the communicator and collaborator who can cultivate relationships with existing investors and prospects in Asia, particularly Japan, and increase their exposure to the firm.
The position will be based out of the firm's Menlo Park office and may require regular travel to Japan.
