We are a new startup company with a vision to provide onlinesupplementaleducation in Japanese for middle school age students.  We are partnering with an established online education program in Japan to expand their teaching methodology to the North American market over the next year.  We are based in the suburbs of Washington D.C area and currently seeking qualified educators with positive attitudes to join our staff. 

Position Summary:

We are seeking motivated individuals who are able to work independently to create a responsible online environment that promotes student growth, continuous learning and collaboration. The ideal candidate is eager to help our company establish a solid foundation from which to prosper and expand in a team environment.   

Individuals work online from any US location with a high speed Internet connection.  A reliable and fast Internet connection is vital in order to utilize our online system. Our program employs various online capabilities to create a focused yet flexible learning environment tailored to the needs of each individual student. 

Classes are offered 7 days a week, including evenings, except U.S. National holidays based on a scheduling protocol that matches up the availability of teachers with the needs of the students. Teachers are afforded the opportunity to set their own flexible availability based on their own schedules.   This is a part-time contract job.

Required Professional Qualifications:

• Native Japanese speaker
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Japanese, both verbally and in writing
• Must have at least a bachelor’s degree
• Must demonstrate, maintain and protect the confidentiality of the program, its officers, clients and all information associated with the program.  Ability to be discrete is paramount. 
• The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision 
• A flexible schedulenings
• Commitment to teach for a minimum of 6 months

Program Requirements:

•  Access to internet connection with high speed connectivity
•  Ability to logon/teach from a quiet and well-lit environment that promotes professionalism
• Teacher is responsible for providing their own computer, Internet access, headset and Skype connectivity
• Demonstrated computer literacy to include use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Skype, internet research, email, and ability to use our online teaching program
• Demonstrated competency to teach/tutor/coach in Japanese the following:  Japanese (Kokugo) or Mathematics and/or English at all levels of the Japanese middle school programutilized in Japan (Japanese standard curriculum)

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

• Create and generate one on one learning plans, teaching/coaching for each assigned student
• Assesses students’ learning on an ongoing basis and meet individual needs
• Provide feedback on student learning, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor/coachcompletion of assignments and study 
• Create progress reports in a timely manner and conduct parent feedback conferencesthrough use of computer (Skype call) or email as needed
•  Keep student records and data up-to-date, and logging all student and parent contacts 
• Collaborate with management and other staffin delivering instruction and managing relationships with parents and students
• Performs other duties as needed
